May 17, 2025, Charlotte Dragon Boat Festival and Charlotte Asian Festival: On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), we are thankful to Ann Gonzales, and the team of Carolinas Asian American Chamber of Commerce and Asian American Foundations of the Carolinas for allowing BCH to conduct Cancer Awareness outreach and share our life-saving educational resources and Patient Care Package, giving BCH a chance to serve at the Festival. We thank the organizers for the wonderful concept and flawless execution.

We cannot be more grateful to Preeti Badri Krishna (BCH Marketing Advisory Board) for initiating the discussions with Ann, introducing BCH to the festival, and devoting her time and efforts to helping us throughout the process. We also thank Framework 4 Future and Vamsee for the beautiful collaboration.

A huge shout-out to our BCH youth ambassadors, Rishita Thippireddy, Rubaab Chhina, Tanushree Amudhan, Bhadra Arun, and Shriya Jaishankar, for volunteering at the event, spreading the message of Early detection and Prevention, and discussing BCH's grassroots diverse missions.

“At the outreach, we distributed BCH brochures with the QR codes to download the Breast Self Exam cards in 24 languages for Her and Him, QR code for Early detection cards for other prevalent cancers, created by BCH, and contact information so that any suspicious case can reach out to me later for treatment guidance and support. A wristband and a keyring with combination colors of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men, and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with bookmarks symbolizing different ribbon colors as we fight against all types of Cancers, with the message of togetherness were also given to the community to provide awareness and education. We also discussed our BCH expert seamstresses stitched essential Patient care package made with love and warmth: Our bundle contains heart-shaped pillow with a pocket to insert cold or hot pack providing comfort and healing post Breast Cancer Surgery (also applicable for other cancers), specialized Chemo port Seat Belt pillows to wear in the Car while seated, and Soft Hats for irritated scalp from chemo, beneficial for patients, along with expressive cards with creative artwork to bring smiles to the patients handcrafted by BCH”.

April 12, 2025, Anamta Eid Milap (Carnival), Concord, NC: On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), I immensely thank Mr. Fiaz Syed, Founder of ANAMTA, for inviting BCH to conduct Cancer Awareness outreach and share our life-saving educational resources and Patient Care Package, giving BCH an opportunity to serve the Anamta family. Hats off to the Anamta Executive Team, L to R: Mr. Fazil Mohammed, Mr. Afroze Shaikh, Mr. Sami Patel, Mr. Fiaz Syed, Mr. Moid Khan, and Mr. Zameer Shaikh, for flawlessly implementing the event and supporting the cause.

I cannot be more grateful to Ms. Vanaja Rajaraman for helping set up the BCH table and supervising our BCH ambassadors as they executed the Cancer Awareness outreach. A) “A shocking presentation of Male Breast Cancer in a 17-year-old” and B) “Male Breast Cancer - A rare but deadly Cancer”, were accepted for poster presentation at “Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine - Research Day, April 03, 2025”, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and presented by Srikavya Pasumarthy. We are incredibly grateful to our Co-authors, Bret Miller and Peggy Miller, Founders of Male Breast Cancer Happens, for sharing the inspiring life of Bret Miller (A). We immensely thank Patricia Washburn for allowing us to report the life of the Late Marlyn Washburn’s motivational journey with Cancer (B). Both studies reflect the importance of Early detection screening for Male Breast Cancer and the need to change the healthcare policies, emphasizing the urgent need for routine Breast screening for Males.

I am immensely proud of Srikavya Pasumarthy’s sincerity and hard work as a BCH research Scholar, and mentoring Kavya is a pleasure.

  • Bigger Purpose: The outreach executed by Ambassadors will help Save Lives, an unprecedented satisfaction, community service.

March 30, 2025, Zeta Tau Alpha Breast Cancer Education, UNC Charlotte: Thank you, Sophia Bazelow, Breast Cancer Education Chairman, for inviting me to speak about Breast Cancer Early Detection, Prevention, and Screening. Thanks to the leadership team, Amanda Marinace (Head of our Philanthropy),and committee members Farrah Mottola, Claudia Quiroz, Emma Janelle, Arianna Kefalas, Hailey Droski, Sophia Bazelow, Avery Bray, and Hadley U’Ren for hosting, and thanks to everyone who attended.

On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), it was very fulfilling to give the BCH Patient Care package to students who took it for their loved ones. Our bundle contains a heart-shaped pillow with a pocket to insert a cold or hot pack, providing comfort and healing used after Breast Cancer Surgery (also applicable for other cancers), specialized Chemo port Seat Belt pillows to wear in the Car while seated, and Soft Hats for an irritated scalp from chemo, extremely helpful for patients, along with beautiful artistic handmade cards. We also provided each student with a pink bag containing the BCH brochure, which featured QR codes for downloading Breast Self Exam cards for both women and men in 24 languages, as well as one-stop Life-saving Early Detection Cards for other prevalent cancers. Additionally, the brochure included my contact information, allowing any suspicious cases to reach out to me later. The wristband with a combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men, and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers, along with bookmarks with the message of togetherness, were also included in the bag.

A Fusion of Colon Cancer Awareness, Craft and Art: March 29, 2025: For the First Time in Charlotte — “Ride 4 A Cause” Takes the Stage During Colon Cancer Awareness Month, hosted by The Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) Wing – Colon Cancer Hub, proudly dedicated to and in honor of our beloved Ravina Kashyap, Colon Cancer Conqueror! Her courageous journey continues to inspire many in the fight against colon cancer.

We thank Trials of Color (TOC) and Sharon Rivera, Founder of TOC, for the partnership. The incredible TOC team rode bikes through four states—Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and North Carolina—culminating in a powerful awareness event hosted by BCH in Concord, NC.

This groundbreaking event, hosted by BCH marked the first “Ride 4 A Cause” in Charlotte, focused on raising awareness about Colon Cancer Screening, Clinical Trials, and Survivorship—topics vital to saving lives, with Dr Raghava Induru, Sharon Rivera and Ravina Kashyap as our esteemed speakers.

A Fusion of Advocacy, Art, and Appreciation

BCH proudly hosted a creative craft workshop, where we honored our TOC bikers and guests with handcrafted tokens of appreciation. Our talented youth volunteers, guided by the mentorship of our Creative Design LeadersPriya Roy, Rajashri Patel, Mahalakshmi Ramani, and Sapna Bordoloi—crafted a vibrant NC map and blue beaded BCH bracelets symbolizing strength, and unity.

Every element of the event, from the decorations to registration to hospitality, reflected the heart and teamwork of our BCH family. A special thank-you goes to Sana Roy and Priya Roy for their touching souvenir concept: instant Polaroid portraits, which bikers took home as lasting memories.

“Ride 4 A Cause” – A Milestone for Colon Cancer Awareness Month

For the first time in Charlotte, Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) Wing – Colon Cancer Hub, dedicated to and in honor of inspiring Ravina Kashyap, Colon Cancer Conqueror, proudly hosted “Ride 4 A Cause” during Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

We sincerely thank Trials of Color (TOC) and Founder Sharon Rivera for the powerful partnership. TOC bikers rode through Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and North Carolina, culminating in this impactful awareness event in Concord, NC.

BCH focused on critical topics such as Colon Cancer Screening, Clinical Trials, and Survivorship, with inspiring talks from esteemed speakers Dr. Raghava Induru, Sharon Rivera, Ravina Kashyap. We thank Idrisha Moulik for being the excellent Anchor, Namrata Kachroo for her eloquent vote of thanks, and Amrita Borooah, Ashley Balogh, and Emily Crago for their beautiful speaker introductions.

Through our BCH creative craft workshop, we honored TOC bikers, speakers, Concord PD, and Stephanie Ramm (City of Concord Parks and Recreation) with handcrafted NC-themed souvenirs.
