The Myriad Facets of Women - Conference

Challenges of a Trans Woman: Case Report on Mental Health and Risks of Reproductive Cancers with Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy: We are excited to share that our Research work got accepted for Oral presentation at the International Conference on The Myriad Facets of Women: A Celebration of the Extraordinary, March 1-2, 2024, at Jain (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru India.

I could not be more proud of Anubha Gupta (BCH Research scholar, pursuing her Masters Biology from KU Leuven, Belgium), for leading the efforts and also presenting the work online in an eloquently articulated manner.

Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) has been working for the trans communities in India over the last few years. We have seen the ground reality where trans individuals still experience prejudice and stigmatization. and we aim to revolutionize the social stigma, with care and acceptance, with changes in healthcare policies, inclusive of cancer screening of Transgender populace.

With gratitude,

Dr Lopamudra Das Roy, on behalf of the BCH family,

Message from Risha and Ruchi..

In April 2023, our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. This news was devastating for our family. However, we were lucky it was diagnosed at Stage 2 due to her awareness of breast cancer. After noticing a lump, she immediately took action. While she went through harsh treatments, we felt helpless, unable to do anything. We understood that early detection and cancer awareness is much needed.

One of our friends was going through a similar situation in his family, and he took steps to donate to the cause. This inspired us, and ‘Gifts and Hope’ was born. We started making custom decor pieces and selling them through our Instagram, @giftsandhope. We decided to donate all profits towards cancer awareness and research. We were greatly supported by our family and friends and ended up raising a greater amount than expected.

While deciding on which organization to donate to, we recalled Dr. Lopamudra, whom we met virtually in an awareness session by the NRIVA. We donated our profits to Breast Cancer Hub.

Thank you to all of our supporters who believed in us and contributed towards the cause via ‘Gifts and Hope.’ Our Instagram handle @giftsandhope”

Hunter farm - blue star mothers of charlotte

On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), we are thankful to Ms. Fostoria Pierson, and the organizing team, for the invitation, to participate in the Fundraiser for Blue Star Mothers of Charlotte. It was wonderful meeting Susan Yarber, Carolina Freedom Foundation.

At the event, BCH spread the message of Early detection Screening of Cancer, discussing the grassroots diverse missions of BCH, by giving out the brochure with the QR codes to download the early detection cards, and contact information, so that any suspicious case can reach out to me later. We also handed out a wristband with a combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with bookmarks with the message of togetherness. We also discussed our BCH Patient care package, which included the post-surgery mastectomy or lumpectomy comfort pillows with a pocket that allows using a cold or hot pack as part of the healing, chemo port seat belt pillows and chemo hats, a gesture of our love and care.

We also handed out a wristband with a combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with bookmarks with the message of togetherness. We also discussed about our BCH Patient care package, , which included the post-surgery mastectomy or lumpectomy comfort pillows with a pocket that allows using a cold or hot pack as part of the healing, chemo port seat belt pillows and chemo hats, a gesture of our love and care.

100% of BCH services are free of cost, and 100% of donations are driven towards our mission (donor’s choice)
