2nd December 2025: Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), as part of Healthy Cabarrus (Cabarrus Health Alliance), is grateful for the opportunity to support the Winter Drive organized by the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services in service of the underserved community in Cabarrus County. We extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Heather Altman, Ms. Kristen Duryee, and Ms. Natalia Weaver for providing BCH with this meaningful opportunity.

A big shoutout to Rishaan Chatterjee for executing the winter drive with such dedication as a BCH ambassador and gathering an impressively huge amount of winter wear from his neighbors and network. Heartfelt thanks to Ahana Srinath, a committed BCH volunteer, for inspiring her community to contribute and for assisting with the collections.

Warm appreciation to Agastya and Agneya for their contributions to the drive as well.

Although none of the students were able to join us at Cabarrus County Social Services to deliver the donations due to school commitments, the items will support underserved families across Cabarrus County.

A special thanks to Bidesh Chatterjee for giving his time today and helping with logistics and the donation handover. And the photo doesn’t reflect the true volume of winter wear collected, the front area didn’t make it into the frame.

Sharod utsav - parbon and ekush

September 7th, 2025, Charlotte: We extend our deep gratitude to Mrs. Rita Nath and the Parbon and Ekush Organizing Team (primarily from Bangladesh) for hosting the beautiful Sharod Utsav cultural event on September 7, 2025. We were honored to participate and utilize this valuable platform for Cancer Awareness outreach.

A special thank you to Mrs. Promita Bhattacharya for introducing BCH to Mrs. Rita and facilitating our participation. Your support was invaluable! We extend a huge shout-out to BCH Youth Ambassadors, Diya Induru and Anusha Naidu, for their dedicated volunteer service at the event. They were instrumental in promoting the message of Early Detection and Prevention, and in educating the community about BCH's diverse grassroots missions, including our handcrafted Patient Care Packages and vital support group resources.

During the outreach, we distributed brochures with QR codes for easy access to:

• Early detection cards for various cancers

• Details on our one-of-a-kind “BCH Know Your Breasts” App, available in 27 languages and for all genders—the first of its kind

• Direct contact info for those seeking guidance or noticing symptoms

To amplify engagement, we shared color-coded wristbands and keyrings:

• Pink for breast cancer in women

• Blue for breast cancer in men

• Purple for all cancers and all genders—symbolizing unity

We also handed out bookmarks featuring ribbon colors of various cancers, promoting awareness, inclusion, and solidarity.

We shared details about our handcrafted Patient Care Packages, lovingly created by BCH’s dedicated volunteer seamstresses. Each set included:

• A heart-shaped pillow with a pocket for hot/cold packs for post-surgery relief

• A Chemo Port Car Seat Belt Pillow for travel comfort

• Soft hats for those experiencing chemo-related scalp sensitivity

• Handmade cards with original, uplifting artwork

At the outreach event, we distributed Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) brochures featuring QR codes for downloading our Breast Self-Exam cards in 24 languages for Her and Him, as well as QR codes for early detection cards for other prevalent cancers—critical tools developed by BCH to promote awareness and prevention. Each brochure also included my contact details to ensure that anyone noticing suspicious symptoms can reach out directly for treatment guidance and support.

To further amplify awareness, we gifted the community color-themed wristbands and keyrings:

• Pink for breast cancer in women

• Blue for breast cancer in men

• Purple for all cancers and all genders—symbolizing unity in the fight against every type of cancer

We also shared bookmarks representing the ribbon colors of different cancer types, reinforcing the message of inclusion and togetherness in this fight.

A highlight of our presentation was introducing BCH’s expertly stitched, handcrafted Patient Care Packages, created by our compassionate volunteer seamstresses. Each bundle includes:

• A heart-shaped pillow with a pocket for hot/cold packs, offering relief and comfort after breast cancer surgery (and applicable for other surgeries)

• A Chemo Port Car Seat Belt Pillow, providing safety and comfort for patients during travel

• Soft Hats for those experiencing scalp irritation from chemotherapy

A heartfelt shout-out to Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) Club Officers at Ardrey Kell High School — Atharva Khatavkar, Shriyansh Pothula, and Neel Dutt — for powerfully representing Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) during the AK Spring Fest on May 17, 2025.

The student leaders educated the community on BCH’s 100% Free services — from screening to diagnosis, treatment guidance, emotional support, and student outreach programs. BCH brochures with QR codes linked to Breast Self Exam cards (in 24 languages) and Early Detection cards for other cancers were distributed. Wristbands, keyrings, and bookmarks in pink (breast cancer in women), blue (in men), and purple (inclusive of all) were shared to raise awareness.

May 17, 2025, Charlotte Dragon Boat Festival and Charlotte Asian Festival: On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), we are thankful to Ann Gonzales, and the team of Carolinas Asian American Chamber of Commerce and Asian American Foundations of the Carolinas for allowing BCH to conduct Cancer Awareness outreach and share our life-saving educational resources and Patient Care Package, giving BCH a chance to serve at the Festival. Groundbreaking Free Breast Cancer Hub App “BCH KNOW YOUR BREASTS” Officially Launched. Available at Apple and Google Play Store (IOS and ANDROID)– A First-of-Its-Kind BSE Reminder App for All Genders in 24 Languages in USA currently.

May 7, 2025 – Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) is proud to announce the official launch of its lifesaving and completely FREE app, “BCH KNOW YOUR BREASTS”—the first Breast Self-Exam (BSE) reminder app designed for all genders, including women, men, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Available in 24 languages, this innovative tool aims to make the early detection of breast cancer accessible and inclusive for everyone around the world.

Developed in close collaboration with the Computer Science + Social Good (CSSG) Club at UNC Chapel Hill, the app is the product of a year-long effort by a passionate team of 8–10 student developers (UNC Chapel Hill CSSG team). The project was initially sourced by Nirmal Rajendran, with current project leads Amy Xu, Matthew Zhu, Maddie Dai, and Toren Kristofferson, driving the initiative forward, with the support of Delaney Broderick, Richard Lin, Maxwell Hu, and Anuj Pannala. A special thanks goes to Amy Xu for her unwavering commitment in execution and ongoing support. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire CSSG team for building the app Free for BCH and Yashu Singhai and Pranav Wagh, the Presidents of the Club who played a key role in the collaboration.

A) “A shocking presentation of Male Breast Cancer in a 17-year-old” and B) “Male Breast Cancer - A rare but deadly Cancer”, were accepted for poster presentation at “Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine - Research Day, April 03, 2025”, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and presented by Srikavya Pasumarthy. We are incredibly grateful to our Co-authors, Bret Miller and Peggy Miller, Founders of Male Breast Cancer Happens, for sharing the inspiring life of Bret Miller (A). We immensely thank Patricia Washburn for allowing us to report the life of the Late Marlyn Washburn’s motivational journey with Cancer (B). Both studies reflect the importance of Early detection screening for Male Breast Cancer and the need to change the healthcare policies, emphasizing the urgent need for routine Breast screening for Males.

I am immensely proud of Srikavya Pasumarthy’s sincerity and hard work as a BCH research Scholar, and mentoring Kavya is a pleasure.

A Fusion of Advocacy, Art, and Appreciation

BCH proudly hosted a creative craft workshop, where we honored our TOC bikers and guests with handcrafted tokens of appreciation. Our talented youth volunteers, guided by the mentorship of our Creative Design Leaders—Priya Roy, Rajashri Patel, Mahalakshmi Ramani, and Sapna Bordoloi—crafted a vibrant NC map and blue beaded BCH bracelets symbolizing strength, and unity.

Every element of the event, from the decorations to registration to hospitality, reflected the heart and teamwork of our BCH family. A special thank-you goes to Sana Roy and Priya Roy for their touching souvenir concept: instant Polaroid portraits, which bikers took home as lasting memories.

2025 Run Jen Run 5K for Go Jen Go Foundation

March 08, 2025, Run Jen Run 5K, Charlotte, NC: On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), I immensely thank Carrie Griffin, Joe Pagani, Susan Sears, Amy Hastings, and the team of GoJenGo for inviting BCH to share our educational resources and Patient Care Package. We are so thankful to the GJG Foundation for all the great work they are executing in NC. It is always a beautiful feeling meeting Aarti Sengupta from our BCH Support family; she is so inspiring and so proud of Aarti for her participation in the Run!

The Breast Cancer Fighters we met, we felt so blessed to be able to give our BCH patient care package. Our bundle contains Breast Cancer Surgery (also applicable for other cancers), heart-shaped pillow with a pocket to insert cold or hot pack providing comfort and healing, specialized Chemo port Seat Belt pillows to wear in the Car while seated, and Soft Hats for irritated scalp from chemo, extremely helpful for patients. We also provided The pink bag to each visitor that carried the BCH brochure with the QR codes to download the Breast Self Exam cards for Her and Him in 24 languages and one-stop Life-saving Early Detection Cards for other prevalent cancers, and my contact information so that any suspicious case can reach out to me later. The wristband with a combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men, and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with bookmarks with the message of togetherness were also included in the bag.

Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) Club, Ardrey Kell High School, Breast Cancer Awareness Session on January 28, 2025: It was wonderful meeting Ms. Tricia Titus (Club advisor), and I am so thankful for her incredible support. It was my pleasure to conduct the cancer awareness session for BCH Club officers Atharva Khatavkar (President), Rishi Bhimavarapu (Vice President), Neel Dutt (Treasurer), Shriyansh Pothula (Secretary) and the BCH Club members, so that our Club members can generate awareness within their network, and also explaining about the upcoming club activities execution and how it will be making meaningful impact.

“After the session, we distributed BCH brochures with the QR codes to download the Breast Self Exam cards in 24 languages for Her and Him, Early detection cards for other prevalent cancers, created by BCH, and contact information so that any suspicious case can reach out to me later. A wristband and a keyring with combination colors of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men, and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with bookmarks symbolizing different ribbon colors as we fight against all types of Cancers, with the message of togetherness were also given to the community to provide awareness and education. We also discussed our BCH handcrafted essential Patient care package that contains Breast Cancer Surgery (also applicable for other cancers), heart-shaped pillow with a pocket to insert cold or hot pack providing comfort and healing, specialized Chemo port Seat Belt pillows to wear in the Car while seated, and Soft Hats for irritated scalp from chemo, beneficial for patients, along with expressive cards with creative artwork to bring smiles to the patients”.
