Dr Lopamudra Das Roy (Distinguished Cancer Scientist-Research Professor) resigned from her career to create & grow BCH as Full-time service (Pro bono - No Salary), with a dream to save lives by making impactful sustainable changes working at the grassroots level by bridging the gap between the Developed & the Developing Countries.

Community Outreaches & Cancer screening camps – Early Detection & Prevention: We navigate suspicious cases towards healthcare facilities & affordable options for the underprivileged & uninsured populace, with optimal follow-ups.
Adopting Villages: Penetrating deeper, going to each member, each household, maintaining database & follow-ups, for Cancer screening, Treatment management, Palliative care & Counseling. We monitor & manage each patient individually.
Support Group & Counseling: a) We provide scientific analysis of the cancer diagnosis & treatment; b) We publish stories & interviews of Cancer advocates in local languages to inspire others fighting Cancer; c) Our Global Support Groups are emotionally connected as we stand for each other.

1 in 8 women can have Breast Cancer in their lifetime and the incidence is alarmingly increasing worldwide. Unfortunately, the death rate is significantly higher in the developing countries compared to the developed world due to shyness, taboo & ignorance irrespective of education & socio-economic condition. Men have Breasts too and most men with Breast Cancer seem to have experiences of shock and subsequent embarrassment, battling the “stigma” of having a predominantly woman's disease. We break the culture enforced embarrassment and openly discuss about Breast health!

The inception of Village Adoption comes from an emotional drive, I met an 18 year old girl during the outreach in Bhorakhai on July 28, 2019 - her mother just passed away from Breast Cancer as she was not aware of the early signs & was shy to discuss due to Breast “Taboo”. That’s when I made the decision as a promise to myself- No more Lives to be Lost due to ignorance & stigma from this village.
