A big shout out to Breast Cancer Hub Corporation Chicago Chapter Director - Shalini Rao for organizing the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign & Art & Bake Fundraiser Sale in Chicago. So well planned and executed! So proud of you Shalini Rao.

Message from Shalini..

"October is marked as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the world by the World Health Organization.. This helps to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease.

At Breast Cancer Hub , we believe that Early detection saves lives. Inspired and motivated by Dr. Lopamudra Das Roy, we at the BCH - Chicago Chapter conducted an Awareness Campaign and Art & Bake Fundraiser Sale on Saturday, the 3rd of October in the northern Suburb of Chicago. The campaign was received very well by the community. People were really absorbing the information as to what each one of us can do to know our bodies, how to do a monthly breast self-examination, how to prevent cancer by following good diet, exercise and living a stress-free mindful life. Many deep conversations regarding health started with total strangers, which was a very satisfying experience. What made the event even more special was the involvement of children, who are our young Ambassadors.

I would like to specially thank Jana and her parents Susanna Castella and Marc for working laboriously baking super-delicious 60 Brownies and Cookies for the Fundraiser. Jana is a middle-school student and her enthusiasm to actively participate is incredible.

I would also like to thank Ishana and her parents Shiv and Kavita Iyer for making beautiful, creative bookmarks for the Fundraiser. Ishana also helped in making people aware of the Breast Cancer Month. Her enthusiasm and energy did attract a lot of people to stop-by.

Last, but not the least, my husband Venkatesh and sons Pranshu and Pratyay who helped me right from the conception of this event in creating the Flyer, making art stuff and bookmarks, and also the conversations each and every day as to why it is important to spread the awareness, and how early detection can change your life and prognosis, made the whole effort fruitful.

It is with deep gratitude that I would like to thank all my friends and neighbours who came and not only participated in the awareness program, but also donated generously for the cause. Shilpa and Hemanth Kumar, Ritu Jain, Aditi Doradla, Ramaa Krishnan, Shefali Nathan and her family, Julie Ugarte, Unnati Gupta, Anshu Arora, Kavita Iyer, Julie Rosenheim are the few names that come to mind. And so many people in the neighbourhood who stopped by to support the cause.

In total, we raised a total of 600$ that shall be strictly used for the cause globally."

On behalf of BCH family, we are so excited & thrilled!
