August 16, 2022: Garima Greh, Home to transgender @ MITR Trust, Delhi: After our months of back and forth via video calls with Dr Sakshi Magmain, Shivangi Jain, and emails across different time zones, Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) and United for Transgender Health (UTH) finally got the chance to substantiate the session on Cancer Awareness and Prevention and I could conduct the workshop at Mitr Trust. The Trans community were not aware of the Breast Cancer screening, and also about the symptoms of Breast Cancer and other cancers that can be risk factors with the hormonal treatments. I had heartfelt discussions with the Garima Greh members on the emtional and health challenges faced by the Trans community.

So grateful to UTH for the collaboration and cannot be more thankful to Rashmika Das for introducing me to UTH team.! I was so touched meeting everyone at Garima Greh. So wonderful meeting Shivangi Jain from UTH in-person and thankful to UTH for connecting me to Garima Greh family. So touched with the love and affection, will treasure it forever till we meet again.

Silchar Medical College

On behalf of the Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) team, I am extremely thankful to Dr. Bondana Das, Dr. Aditi Chakraborty, Dr. Ahimik Biswas, Mrs. Nabarupa Roy, and all the members, Silchar Medical College and Assam Cancer Care Foundation, for supporting the suspicious cases (mostly cervical, and breast cancer in addition to other cancers) we bring in for Cancer screening and treatment management from the Breast Cancer Hub adopted villages in Cachar, Assam. Thank you so much for your help and guidance. Thank you Sanalembi Devi (Project coordinator, BCH adopted villages in Cachar, Assam) and Ranjita Singha (BCH Field staff) for accompanying me with your time.

A brief about Breast Cancer Hub's project in the villages BCH adopted: Breast Cancer Hub adopted 11 villages in Cachar, Assam, India, since February 2020, for door-to-door Cancer screening-awareness, Diagnosis, Treatment Management Aid and Counselling. We go to each house, generating awareness, teaching Breast Self-Exam, Self-Oral Screening, discussing signs & symptoms of all other cancers, and providing BCH Early detection cards (All Cancers) for each family. From no awareness, now each & every family has become aware of symptoms of Cancers after our penetration. We monitor & manage each suspicious case individually, case by case. We take the suspicious cases to Cachar Cancer Hospital (CCH), or Silchar Medical College (SMC), for further screening, diagnosis, and treatment and we are thankful to SMC & CCH for their support. The hospitals provide treatment at subsidized rates under the government-aided schemes but the remaining treatment expenses, BCH covers. The villagers are daily wage earners living a hand-to-mouth existence without any savings. On many occasions, there is no person in the family to accompany the patient to the hospital, eventually delaying or skipping treatment. BCH team takes care end to end, from providing transport, to purchasing medicines, and diagnostic tests, which are not covered under the government schemes. BCH team assists the patients by taking them to the hospital, helping with income certificates, AAA cards, hospital registration, patient communication with the doctor, accompanying them in the full diagnosis process, buying necessary medicines, and dropping them home with follow-ups & counseling. BCH provides treatment aid to the poor and needy and before giving the Aid, our project Coordinator Sanalembi Devi conducts background verification of the economic status of the family of the patient. We take accountability for each case, helping them from beginning to end. The 11 Villages BCH adopted since February 2020: Sundari Part-I, Sundari Part-II, Sundari Part-III, Sundari Part-IV, Boali (Boalihaor), Sentcatherine, Bhorakhai, Bidruhipar, Bhaurikandi-I, Bhaurikandi-II, Dharamkhal

With heartfelt gratitude,

Dr Lopamudra Das Roy on behalf of our team working in the BCH adopted villages in Cachar: Sanalembi Devi, Sapna Pashi, Ranjita Singha, Sangita Bagdi, Langlen Singha, Sarita Singha

BCH adoption@ Bagathsing Nagar Village, Tiruvallur District, TN

July 22, 23, 24, 2022 (Tamil Nadu): After a series of groundwork in the area, Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) Adopts Bagathsing Nagar Village, Veeraganallur Panchayat, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu for door-to-door Cancer screening-awareness, Diagnosis, Treatment Management Aid and Counselling, taking care end-to-end. After our huge success in Villages adoption in Assam, we are now replicating the same in other parts of India. I was so touched meeting the Bagathsing village residents, who welcomed and embraced us with love and hope.

The Bagathsing village adoption cannot be successful without the help and guidance of the Rehoboth Team:  A. Joseph Rexon, A.D Muniendiran, Anandan P. Our BCH field workers will be Chitra and Maheswari, who are local residents of the Bagathsing village. We will first take the suspicious cases to the Beerukapam Primary Health Center Thiruvellur. After the preliminary screening, as needed, we will take the patients to CMC Vellore under the guidance of Dr M.J. Paul, Professor and Head, Endocrine Surgery, CMC for further diagnosis and treatment. It was my honor meeting Dr Paul and I am so thankful to Dr Paul and his team, for the assurance that our patients will receive the subsidized treatment once we process the needed income health cards.

Due to the kind introduction from Dr. Bagyam Raghavan, I also met Bhooma Parthsdsrathy, Thirumalai Mission Hospital, Ranipet, who also supported our initiative.

BCH team takes care end to end, from providing transport, purchasing medicines, and diagnostic tests, which are not covered under the government schemes. BCH team assists the patients by taking them to the hospital, helping with generating income certificates, Government health cards, hospital registration, patient communication with the doctor, accompanying them in the full diagnosis process, buying necessary medicines, and dropping them home with follow-ups & counseling. BCH provides treatment aid to the poor and underprivileged. We take accountability for each case, helping them from beginning to end.

A sincere thanks again and a huge shout-out to A. Joseph Rexon, the Rehoboth Founder, whose selfless support and help is unparalleled, and without whom, I couldn’t have connected with Bagathsing village and executed the project.

Thank you Sandeep Roy and Julie Daugherty, for your financial support towards my travels to these sectors.
