Dharamkhal Village, Cachar Assam

November 24th, 2021, Dharamkhal Village, Cachar, Assam: Bringing the Villagers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers together, to carry the concepts of Early detection & prevention of Cancer & our anti-tobacco campaign forward like a ripple effect, in the Dharamkhal village, one of the 11 Breast Cancer Hub adopted villages in Cachar, Assam, India, BCH is serving since February 2020, for door to door Cancer screening-awareness, Diagnosis, Treatment Management and Counselling. We monitor & manage each suspicious case individually, case by case. We take the suspicious cases to Cachar Cancer Hospital, or Silchar Medical College, for further screening, diagnosis and treatment. The hospitals provide treatment at the subsidized rates under the government aided scheme. BCH covers all the other expenses, starting from transport, purchasing medicines, diagnostic tests, that are needed outside the hospitals premises not covered under the government schemes. BCH team assists the patients from taking them to the hospital, helping with income certificate, AAA card, hospital registration, to patient communication with the doctor, accompanying them in the full diagnosis process, buying necessary medicines, dropping them home with follow-ups & counselling. BCH provides treatment aid to the poor and needy and before giving the Aid, our project Coordinator Sanalembi Devi conducts background verification of the economic status of the family of the patient. We take accountability of each case, helping them from beginning to end.

The villagers are daily wage earners living a hand-to-mouth existence without any saving. On many occasions, there is no person in the family to accompany the patient to the hospital, eventually delays or skipping treatment. We take accountability of each patient, case by case.

The 11 Villages BCH adopted since February 2020: Sundari Part-I, Sundari Part-II, Sundari Part-III, Sundari Part-IV, Boali (Boalihaor), Sentcatherine, Bhorakhai, Bidruhipar, Bhaurikandi-I, Bhaurikandi-II, Dharamkhal
