BCH Adopted villages, Cachar, Assan

Data: Feb 2020 to Dec 2022, Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) screened 13, 778 Villagers (4111 Families) in the 14 Villages BCH adopted in Cachar Assam, India during the time period Feb 2020 to Dec 2022 (More in progress) executing Door to door cancer screening, Treatment Management, Follow-ups with support & counseling. We detected 171 suspicious cases of Breast, Cervical, Oral & Other cancers. The villagers are daily wage earners living a hand-to-mouth existence without any savings. On many occasions, there is no one in the family to accompany the patient to the hospital, eventually avoiding treatment. The BCH team assists the Suspicious cases after our Door to door screening by taking the patients to the hospital, providing transport, generating income certificates, helping with hospital registration, patient communication with the doctor, accompanying them in the full diagnosis & treatment process, buying necessary medicines & treatment Aid supporting tests not covered under the govt aided schemes, providing food, dropping patients home with follow-ups & further counseling, taking care end to end.

A huge shout-out to our BCH team working relentlessly at the villages we adopted in Cachar, Assam: Sanalembi Devi (Project Coordinator), Field staffs: Sapna Pashi, Ranjitha Singha, Sangita Bagdi, Langlen Singha; Sarita Singha (Data entry operator), and Dr Lopamudra Das Roy (Principal investigator). Thank you Mr. Shanku Das for your audit & review of the BCH expenses in the adopted villages in Cachar, Assam.

We take the suspicious cases to Cachar Cancer Hospital (CCH), or Silchar Medical College (SMC), for further screening, diagnosis, and treatment. The hospitals provide treatment at free or subsidized rates under the government-aided schemes but for the remaining treatment expenses, BCH covers.
