Male breast cancer happens
Director/Co-Founder, Bret Miller 1T Foundation MBCH Inc
USA
A Mother's Mission
When Bret first discovered a lump in his breast at age 17, doctors dismissed it as puberty-related changes. It wasn't until he was 24 that he received his Stage 1 male breast cancer diagnosis and underwent a mastectomy. This experience ignited a family mission that would become Male Breast Cancer Happens, founded in 2013.
Leading the Foundation
As Director of BM1TMBCH Inc, Peggy serves as the heart of daily operations, managing the organization's comprehensive outreach efforts. Her responsibilities encompass:
Direct Support: Personally, connecting with survivors and their family members, providing emotional support and guidance
Digital Outreach: Managing social media platforms to spread awareness and build community
Event Coordination: Organizing educational events, support gatherings, and awareness campaigns
24/7 Availability: Maintaining constant accessibility for those in need of support and information
A True Family Effort
The foundation represents a collaborative family commitment. While Bret's brother Blake, founder of Homebase.ai, designed the organization's websites, and father Bob maintains the site daily, Peggy orchestrates the human connections that make the foundation's mission possible. Her hands-on approach ensures that every person who reaches out receives personal attention and support.
Philosophy and Impact
Peggy's guiding philosophy is captured in her signature message: #TogetherWeWillChangetheWORLD that #MenHaveBreastsToo. This reflects her belief in collective action and the power of awareness to save lives. Her work honors Bret's promise to his surgeon—that no man will ever feel alone when hearing the words "You have breast cancer."
Through her leadership, compassion, and tireless dedication, Peggy Miller continues to build bridges of support for male breast cancer survivors and their families, turning personal experience into a powerful force for change and hope.
