Know The Glow
KnowTheGlow (KTG)
Los Angeles, CA, USA
Know The Glow (KTG) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating preventable childhood blindness by raising awareness about leukocoria—commonly referred to as “The Glow.” This glow appears as a white, yellow, or opaque reflection in a child's eye in flash photographs and can be an early indicator of over 20 serious eye conditions, including retinoblastoma, Coats’ disease, and congenital cataracts .
KTG empowers parents and caregivers to recognize this early warning sign through educational resources, digital campaigns, and community outreach. By promoting early detection and encouraging comprehensive eye exams, KTG aims to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment, thereby preserving children's vision worldwide.
Founder's Biography
Megan Webber, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Know The Glow, established the organization in 2010 after a personal experience with her son's eye condition highlighted the need for greater awareness of leukocoria. Under her leadership, KTG has expanded its reach globally, collaborating with healthcare professionals, NGOs, and families to promote early detection of glow-related eye diseases.
