Breast Cancer Hub’s Grassroots Ongoing Impact in India: Villages Adoption Program: Saving Lives, One Home at a Time, End to end Care
In some of the most remote and underserved corners of India, Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) is bringing hope where there once was none. Through our Villages Adoption Program, we are transforming lives by delivering grassroots cancer care directly to the doorsteps of those who need it most.
Since February 2020, to 2024, BCH has adopted 62 villages across multiple Indian states, reaching regions often forgotten by the healthcare system. Through this initiative, we have screened 31,428 villagers—and the work continues, with many more villages currently underway.
Why It Matters
These are interior villages where no cancer screening had ever taken place. People live with limited awareness, deep-rooted stigma, and no access to specialized care. Most are daily wage earners—unable to afford time off work, transportation, or even basic medical costs. Some must take three or four different modes of transport to reach a hospital. Many turn to faith healers, not out of choice, but because they see no other option. Tragically, this often results in preventable deaths.
BCH is changing that reality—by showing up.
Our Sustainable, Patient-Centered Model
We meet people where they are—and walk beside them through every step of their journey:
Door-to-door awareness and cancer screening
Identifying suspicious cases and escorting them to hospitals
Organizing transportation and health card registration
Helping with hospital paperwork and communication
Covering critical expenses not included in government schemes
Offering one-on-one emotional support and counseling
Providing post-surgery care and follow-up support
Supplying nutritious food and recovery items when needed
Maintaining individualized, case-by-case guidance to ensure treatment continuity
