Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation

Sierra Leone

Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation was birthed on the 30th November 2007 in Freetown Sierra Leone. The Founder Mrs Cremelda Parkinson Pratt has a clear vision after deep soul searching and losing her dearest friend & in law to Breast Cancer. Awareness! Awareness!

We are full member of UICC (Union for International Cancer Control). Thinking Pink was  part of World Cancer Leaders Summit in Kazakhstan 2019.

Our Mission is about The Importance  of Early Detection: Every Life is Precious.

It is also about the importance of  Raising Awareness about Breast Cancer on a National Level  which is vital taking the illiteracy level into consideration.

Raising the Awareness in the Rural  areas, Market places, deprived communities, Schools, College/ Universities and Corporate sensitisation is important to our mission .

A Health Fair was held on the 5th January 2008 to officially launch TPBCF. Our Data collected at the Health Fair was alarming 278 participants came forward for Clinical examination, 45 had some form of breast abnormality. We have a membership of 12 including professionals in the medical field and in partnership with The Ministry of Health & Sanitation.

We are a proactive Foundation with a mission to vigorously take up the challenges of Breast Cancer in Sierra Leone along side Survivors who tell their stories "You are Not alone" and we collect Data.  "No one should Die from Breast Cancer because of Geography or poverty."

Sierra Leone lacks the infrastructure on Cancer. To date patients have to travel to The sub Region for Radiotherapy treatment, which comes with a very high price  tag including ait ticket, lodging,  Treatment, Feeding Medication etc.

We only have one (1) Surgical Oncologist and an Oncology Nurse who received a scholarship from The office of The First Lady to specialize at The TaTa Teaching Hospital in Mumbai, India.

We source funds for the financially challenged victims and  support them thru their Treatment Pathway.

#Cancer is Real.
